Ukraine July Grain export seen 1.65 to 1.7 million tonnes

Ukraine exported 1.5 million tonnes of grain since the beginning of July to date and total grain export for the month is likely to be 1.65-1.7 million tonnes, the Agriculture Ministry reported Wednesday (July 29).

The Ministry said traditionally there wasn't much grain exported in July, the first month of the new marketing year, but this year there was demand and export was greater than normal.

The Ministry said also if its forecast of grain harvest this year proved correct at 42-43 million tonnes, export in the current marketing year (July 2009-June 2010) would be 17 million tonnes.

Ukraine exported 24.5 million tonnes of grain in the 2008-2009 marketing year.
