Vietnam's pangasius exports reach US$1.1 billion in H1 2026 with full-year target of US$2 billion in sight

China accounted for 27% of total pangasius export value with a 35% year-on-year surge, while the CPTPP bloc has emerged as a growing secondary market with exports up 21% in the first four months of the year.

Vietnam's pangasius exports reached approximately US$1.1 billion in the first half of 2026, up 12% year on year, with June contributing US$205 million - a 5% increase on the same month in 2025, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

China remained Vietnam's largest pangasius market, with exports reaching US$299 million in H1 2026, up 35% year on year and accounting for approximately 27% of total sector export value. Alongside China, CPTPP member countries have emerged as a new growth front: in the first four months of 2026, exports to the bloc reached nearly US$128 million, up 21% year on year and representing around 18% of total export revenue.

VASEP said that if current growth momentum is maintained through the second half, the pangasius industry could surpass US$2 billion in full-year export value for the first time.
