Vietnam's basa catfish remains unwelcome in the US

Vietnamese tra fish still does not meet the quality standards of the US market, according to the Catfish Association of America (CFA).

As per the association's statement, imports of catfish are raised in unsanitary conditions, using multiple antibiotics and other substances banned in the US, causing "harm to the American people's health."

At the same time the association also asked the US government to quickly transfer responsibility to check imports of catfish from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). The USDA will have VS & ATTP requirements stricter than the FDA.

Export processing enterprises of Vietnam's pangasius should pay more attention to the quality of fish exports to prevent export decline.
