China's Guangdong Agriculture Output Value Increase
According to China's Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture, in the first half year Guangdong's rural residents' cash income per capita was RMB 2,177, up 11.2 per cent over the same period last year.
The total value of the provincial agricultural output in the first six months of 2004 was RMB 66 billion, up 5.5 per cent over the same period last year. The total value of imports and exports was USD 3.8 billion, up 35 per cent.
Officials at the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture said that government policies and market motivation explain the prosperity of the agricultural economy.
At the beginning of this year, the central government, the Guangdong government and the Provincial Party Committee announced a series of policies to advance Guangdong's agriculture and rural economy.
Meanwhile, thanks to continuous stable investment growth, agricultural products were in great demand and thus the prices of agricultural products increased.
