Ukraine may export 20-21 million tonnes grains
Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhnyuk said on July 25 that the country will be able to supply 20-21 million tonnes of grains on foreign markets, and completely ensure all domestic needs in grains, according to APK-Inform.
The export forecast was based on the expected volume of the general grain harvest in 2012 at the level of 45-46 million tonnes and the volume of grain carry-over stocks (10 million tonnes).
According to M.Prysiazhnyuk, the observed increase of grain prices on international markets reduced the dynamics of Ukrainian grain exports. In July, Ukraine exported 950,000 tonnes of grains only. The situation was caused by the fact that to date the world market faces the increase of grain prices, that is why the number of external customers reduced their purchases in order to analyse the situation on the market, said the Minister.
At the same time, M.Prysiazhnyuk stressed that the increase of world grain prices is a positive factor for Ukrainian agrarians, because the factor will allow making a profit even at somewhat lower general grain harvest in Ukraine, compared to last year.
Also, the head of the Ministry once again stressed that there are no prerequisites for artificial limitation of grain exports from Ukraine in 2012-13 marketing year by the Government.
