Ukraine revises up 2011 grain production
Ukraine expects to yield 44.5-45 million tonnes of grain in 2011, said the head of the agricultural department of the Hydrometeorological Centre Tetiana Adamenko.
Initial output estimate was 43.2 million tonnes, but a considerable increase in corn acreage and favourable weather conditions had prompted an upward revision of the forecast, Adamenko said.
On June 29, Adamenko reduced the yield forecast for winter and spring wheat by 10-20% in Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Mykolayiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
