Cautious buying holds down methionine prices in China

Prices of methionine were stable during the week ending July 25.

Demand for methionine softened after buyers have stocked some supplies in the previous week. Although there was news that a producers was planning for plant maintenance in July, buying interest for methionine showed little improvement as the poultry market remained relatively weak.

Price quotes of imported dl-methionine increased to the range of RMB22-23.50/kg, higher by RMB0-1/kg.

Low production during summer will lend support to methionine in the coming weeks.
