Lumpy skin disease outbreak confirmed in Kavrepalanchok, Nepal

 

 


An outbreak of lumpy skin disease in Kavrepalanchok district, Nepal, has resulted in the 681 animals dead, according to reports from the country's Veterinary Hospital and Animal Services Expert Centre, Khabarhub reported.

 

A total of 30,743 animals have been confirmed to be infected with the lumpy skin disease in Kavrepalanchok.

 

The Nepal Veterinary Hospital and Animal Services Expert Centre said 33,399 cattle, bulls, and buffaloes have been severely affected.

 

The outbreak was first detected when a buffalo in Panauti tested positive for the disease on July 19, 2020. Since then, the number of affected animals has continued to rise, posing a serious threat to local communities and their livestock.

 

Authorities are diligently working to contain the outbreak and provide appropriate medical attention to the infected animals in an effort to mitigate further spread of the disease.
