USGC showcases DDGS use in Mexico

The US Grains Council (USGC) plans to create reliable markets for US distiller's dried grains with solubles (DDGS) by showcasing its benefits in Mexico, which the US plans to grow into the second-largest market for US DDGS.

The council's Latin America and Caribbean Region office escorted a team of Ecuadorian feed millers and nutritionists to see the use of US DDGS in Mexico firsthand, the USGC said on July 22.

Team members were encouraged to question and interact with their Mexican counterparts on DDGS use.

"Giving end-users the opportunity to see US DDGS at work was incredibly helpful for this team," said Kurt Schultz, USGC regional director for Latin America and Caribbean region.

Seeing DDGS use in Mexico has helped the Ecuadorian team anticipate using the product themselves, he added.

A main focus for the council during this trip was to educate the Ecuadorian team on proper DDGS inclusion rates in their feed formulations.

Ecuador has imported DDGS in the past and is currently considering resuming those imports.

The USGC is planning to escort another team to Mexico later this year.
