Catfish feed deliveries up 12 percent in the US

Catfish feed in the US has seen a 12-percent rise on-year in demand in June, rising to 132,806 tonnes.

The figure was 23 percent up from the previous month.

Foodsize catfish feed delivered totaled 127,246 tonnes, up 13 percent from the corresponding month a year ago. However, feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 5,560 tonnes, down 11 percent from the corresponding month a year ago.

June feed delivered to Mississippi catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 62,580 tonnes, up 15 percent from last year and accounted for nearly half the total foodsize catfish feed delivered in the US.

The other major States with catfish feed deliveries were: Alabama with 33,829 tonnes, up 14 percent; Arkansas with 20,950 tonnes, up 12 percent; and Louisiana with 3,544 tonnes, down 2 percent.
