CP Group commits US$600 million to expand poultry and pork processing capacity in Vietnam

The Thai agribusiness conglomerate plans to double chicken processing capacity at its flagship Dong Nai export complex and build a new northern Vietnam facility, as it positions the country as a regional food production and export base.
Thailand's Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) has outlined plans to invest approximately US$600 million across three projects in Vietnam, targeting expanded poultry processing capacity and a strengthened hygienic pork slaughterhouse network, following a visit to Hanoi by group chairman Soopakij Chearavanont from 9-11 July 2026.
Montri Suwanposri, Vice Chairman of C.P. Vietnam Livestock Corporation, said deep processing and exports would be the group's primary investment priorities. The largest commitment is a US$200 million expansion of the CPV Food Binh Phuoc integrated poultry farming and processing complex in Vietnam's southern Dong Nai province, which currently processes around one million chickens per week for export. The investment is intended to double capacity to two million chickens per week.
A second project involves approximately US$300 million for a new poultry processing plant in the northern province of Phu Tho, also with a capacity of one million chickens per week, aimed at strengthening supply to northern markets and supporting export growth. A further US$100 million will be invested to expand C.P. Vietnam's hygienic pork slaughterhouse network, which currently comprises five facilities nationwide, to meet both domestic and international standards.
Soopakij said CP Group's goal is for Vietnam to function not only as a consumer market but as a production base serving international export markets. The group operates an integrated feed-farm-food model in Vietnam covering breeding, farming, processing and distribution, which it said improves product traceability and food safety across the supply chain.
The group also said it would increase the use of artificial intelligence, digital technologies and data analytics in livestock management, and is investing in energy-efficient technologies, renewable energy and resource recycling as part of a commitment to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
