Flood-hit cattle in India's Punjab Jalandhar region suffer from diseases and lack of fodder

Cattle in the flood-ravaged regions of Jalandhar, Punjab, in northern India, are grappling with ailments such as diarrhoea, fever, and skin allergies, with numerous health cases reported to India's Animal Husbandry Department, The Tribune India reported.

The devastating floods have also washed away green fodder, leaving cattle owners worried about the well-being of their animals.

In the villages of Madala Channa and Chak Madala, which bore the brunt of the floods, cattle owners expressed their distress over the condition of their cows and buffaloes. The scarcity of fodder has led to their livestock becoming weak and suffering from wounds.

One concerned cattle owner from Madala Channa said that their cattle have wounds on their legs, and they urgently need treatment.

The impact of the floods on the cattle has been significant, with nearly 4,500 head of livestock affected in 35 flood-hit villages.
