ADM to scale precision-fermented egg protein OvoPro at Iowa facility

The agreement marks a second major production partnership for The Every Co. within weeks, following a separate deal with Huvepharma to scale OvoPro at its Bulgarian fermentation site.

ADM will commercially scale production of OvoPro, a precision-fermented ovalbumin protein ingredient developed by The Every Co., at its corn processing facility in Clinton, Iowa, the two companies announced.

OvoPro is produced using precision fermentation and delivers the binding, gelling, foaming and whipping properties of conventional egg white protein. The Clinton facility, which underwent upgrades earlier this year, already produces a range of food and feed ingredients including corn sweeteners, starches, enzymes, ethanol, corn oil and animal feed products.

Kris Lutt, Vice President for Innovation and Growth at ADM, said the partnership reflects the need to supplement conventional protein sources with new ingredient options to meet growing global demand. "Through this agreement with Every, we're strengthening the global protein supply chain while demonstrating how ADM's industry-leading precision fermentation capabilities can complement existing production, expand supply and help customers innovate," Lutt said.

Arturo Elizondo, founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Every Co., said the ADM partnership addresses scale and supply reliability requirements for food manufacturers seeking to diversify protein sourcing. "OvoPro provides a reliable, price-stable protein that delivers functional performance and protein content - helping provide manufacturers with confidence in product quality, supply security and cost stability," Elizondo said.

The ADM agreement follows a separate deal announced earlier this month in which The Every Co. partnered with Huvepharma to scale OvoPro production at the Bulgarian animal health company's fermentation infrastructure in Peshtera, Bulgaria. The two partnerships together represent a significant expansion of OvoPro's commercial production footprint across both North America and Europe.
