US commercial hatcheries set lower egg count in incubators on-year

In the week ending July 14, commercial hatcheries in the 19-state weekly programme placed 196 million eggs in incubators, down about 0.5% against the same week of the previous year, according to USDA report.

Broiler growers in the programme placed 163 million chicks for meat production during the week ending July 14, down 1% from the comparable week a year earlier.

Cumulative placements from January 1 through July 14 were 4.60 billion, down 3% from the same period a year earlier.
