Brazil hits highest beef exports in July

Brazil exported 23,690 tonnes of equivalent carcass beef in July - the highest volume since June 2008, the Mato Grosso Agricultural Economics Institute (Imea) said Wednesday (Jul 21).

 

The volume is 4,410 tonnes higher than in May 2010, it added.

 

Mato Grosso exports beef to 150 countries, but July's biggest buyers were Russia and the Middle East, at 60% (14,200 tonnes) of total exported volume.

 

According to Imea, the result was due to a recovery in the international meat market.
