India's Assam seizes truckloads of cattle heads

 


India's Assam police confiscated 10 trucks carrying a total of 237 cattle heads illegally in Biswanath district on last Wednesday, NE NOW NEWS reported.

 

As many as 34 people have been arrested, according to reports.

 

Six cattle laden trucks were seized at Hawajan, Gohpur and Helem area, and later four more trucks seized at Jinjia area, according to police.

 

Based on intelligence inputs, Biswanath district police had launched an operation to catch cattle smugglers.

 

According to police, the seized trucks were headed towards Nagaon and Morigaon districts.

 

On the other hand, South Salmara Mankachar district police also arrested four cattle smugglers with 10 cattle heads while they were trying to smuggle the cattle to Bangladesh through the Brahmaputra River.

 

Mankachar district police had recovered some cattle from the Brahmaputra river as well.
