Vietnam's Seafood Exports Exceed 1 Billion USD
Viet Nam is estimated to earn 200 million USD from seafood exports in July, bringing its total seafood export turnover in the first half of this year to 1.177 billion USD.
The Fisheries Ministry announced on Wednesday that the figure represents a year-on-year increase of 0.68 percent.
The ministry said prices of tra and basa catfish have hit a record high of 14,000-15,000 VND per kilo in southern An Giang province, the country's major tra and basa catfish producer.
The province has so far this year earned 60 million USD from exports of 18,000 tonnes of tra and basa catfish.
Experts predicted that Viet Nam would have advantages in the export of tiger prawn in future as other tiger prawn producers in the world have replaced tiger prawn production with other foods.
