China to release another 10,000 tonnes of frozen pork from state reserves
The China Merchandise Reserve Management Center said on its website that it will sell another 10,000 tonnes of frozen pork from state reserves on July 23, Reuters reported.
China has sold a total of 420,000 tonnes of pork from its state reserves since the beginning of this year in an effort to lower surging pork prices in the country. The African swine fever outbreak decimated swine supplies in China, forcing the country to expand its meat import sources as prices gone up due to low domestic supplies.
The recent COVID-19 outbreak had disrupted government efforts to restore pork production.
