Beyond Meat brings plant-based pork patties to Tmall in China

Beyond Meat Inc has started selling its plant-based pork patties on its Tmall store in China from July 19, further expanding its sales reach in the country, Morningstar reported.

This is the second plant-based pork product that Beyond Meat has introduced in China, and it is offered in both traditional and spicy flavours. The other, called Beyond Pork, was introduced in 2020 and is a ground plant-based pork product.

The new launch comes almost two weeks after Dicos, a Chinese Western-style fast-food chain, added Beyond Meat to its menu in the form of the Trio-cheese Plant-Based Beef Burger.

For sale in more than 2,300 Lawson convenience stores throughout China, Beyond Meat introduced two lunch boxes in May this year. Since March, Beyond Meat has operated a store on Pinduoduo, the largest Chinese agricultural-focused technology platform.

The price of Beyond Meat stock has fallen 44.7% so far this year.
