Kazakhstan to resume beef exports to Russia
Kazakh cattle breeders plan to export 5,000 tonnes of beef to Russia this year after the country lifted a ban on Kazakhstan imports.
The announcement came from Rabiga Tokseitova, director of the government's Department of Cattle Breeding Development and Veterinary Safety.
Russia had banned beef from the main cattle-raising areas of Northern Kazakhstan, Mangistau and Kostanay Oblasts because of an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in 2007.
It lifted the ban on July 9, according to reports.
