CPF focuses on markets in India and Turkey

Thailand's Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) is counting on its overseas operations, especially in India and Turkey, to generate high demand, according to president and CEO Adirek Sripratak.

This is based on increasing demand for meat imported from neighboring countries, which has proven beneficial for CPF's business, both in Turkey and India. The company also has high expectations for its chicken-meat exports to Russia.

Turkey, Sripratak said, has just began to operate a food-processing plant to produce sausage, meatballs, cordon bleu and chicken burgers, which has been enjoying good response from Turkish consumers.

In India, CPF has expanded three new aquaculture feedmills, providing a total capacity of 150,000 tonnes per year and is top in the aquatic business in India.

Meanwhile, CPF anticipates 2010 to hit another record earning in the history of the company. CPF's management mentioned the possibility of a further advertising rate hike for its super prime-time slot in October which follows a 9% hike for the 7-8.30 p.m. time slot this month.

Prospects remain favourable with no sign of weakening in demand for television advertising, while operating costs have been on a more normalised base since first quarter of 2010.
