ASF confirmed in Assam, India
African swine fever (ASF) was detected in Assam, India, on July 17 after a pig in Dibrugarh's Bhogali Pathar village tested positive for the virus.
According to reports, the culling of pigs has begun in the area where the first case of ASF has been registered.
Dr. Himandu Bikash Barua, district animal husbandry and veterinary officer in Dibrugarh, told news agency ANI that a sample of the pig confirmed that it had the disease.
Dr. Barua also said that all pigs within one kilometer radius of the epicenter, where ASF was detected in a pig, had been culled.
