Biomin's Digestarom^® DC Duplex capsule given EU authorisation for poultry species

 

 

Leading animal nutrition firm BIOMIN has received EU zootechnical authorisation for the Digestarom^® DC Duplex capsule in its next-generation phytogenic feed additive product, Digestarom^® DC Power, for use in poultry species.

 

"We are delighted to receive EU authorization of the Duplex Capsule in Digestarom^® DC for use in chicken for fattening, chickens reared for laying and minor avian species diets which further confirms the improvements phytogenic feed additive products can have on poultry performance", said Dr. Antonia Tacconi, global product line manager phytogenics at BIOMIN.

 

"This authorisation allows poultry producers all over the EU to include Digestarom^® DC in their diets with confidence in the expected results. This proprietary mix of plant-based substances delivers performance benefits in poultry species as confirmed by the numerous supporting scientific and commercial trials."

 

The EU dossier for Digestarom^® DC as a zootechnical feed additive in broilers was submitted back in April 2018. Customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa were introduced to the product at EuroTier in November 2018 following a successful launch for the Asian market at VIV Asia the previous year.

 

"Work will now begin in earnest to ensure all European poultry producers are getting the most out of their flocks by including Digestarom^® DC in their diets", Tacconi said.

 

Tacconi said the coveted authorisation was achieved thanks to the dedication of the whole BIOMIN team, including experts in the R&D, regulatory, sales and technical teams. "Through unprecedented dedication to our company mission, we continue to bring innovative products like Digestarom^® DC to market, making significant changes to the performance of poultry production units in the EU and around the globe", Tacconi stressed.

 

Digestarom^® DC has the potential to increase the growth performance of broilers, laying hens and minor poultry species reared up to the point of lay. It does this through supporting gut health leading to higher productivity and therefore economic gains.

 

The triple-action formulation of Digestarom^® DC includes:

 

    * Promoting appetizing and endogenous secretions

    * Gut microbiota modulation

    * Gut protection

 

"All this is incorporated in the BIOMIN^® Duplex Capsule technology, which ensures the plant-based active compounds are protected during the rigors of feed processing and released slowly throughout the gastrointestinal tract for maximum impact", the company said in a press release.
