More than 20 countries reported ASF outbreaks in H1 2023

 

 

 

In the first half of 2023, 22 countries have reported outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in domestic pigs to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).

 

From the beginning of the year until June 30, there were 337 outbreaks reported involving 606,005 susceptible domestic pigs. During the first six months, 16 countries reported 3,331 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar involving 5,292 cases.

 

So far this year, three countries have reported the presence of ASF to WOAH for the first time. These countries include Singapore (February 5), Bosnia and Herzegovina (June 21) and Croatia (June 23).
