Beef is Pakistan's favourite meat
About 50 percent of interviewed people in Pakistan said beef was the most consumed animal protein in their household, according to a recent survey by Gallup Pakistan.
Next in line are chicken and mutton with 39 percent and nine percent, respectively. The survey said two percent of the report's respondents use other meats.
Beef is more popular in the rural area, with 53 percent of them consuming the meat compared with urban's 43 percent. Beef is also found to be more popular in the North-West Frontier Province.
The survey interviewed 2,725 people from rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country during June 2009.
