Russia lifts ban on meat, pig imports from two US states

Russian veterinary regulator lifted a ban on imports of all types of meat, including pork, and live pigs from the US states of New York and Utah on Wednesday (July 15), a spokesperson said.

A ban has also been removed on imports of all types of meat, except pork and live pigs, from Wisconsin.

In late April, the regulator began introducing bans on meat imports from a number of US states because of concerns about the spread of AH1N1 flu.

Since then, bans on meat imports from some of the states have been lifted.
