Venezuela's poultry imports from Argentina reach 69,261 tonnes in H1

In the first half of 2014, Venezuela imported 69,261 tonnes of frozen chicken from Argentina, compared to 27,463 tonnes from other importing countries.

Venezuela says that prices of frozen chicken imports from Argentina are 42% higher than those for other importing countries.

The country buys argentine poultry at an average price of US$2.24/kg, compared to an average of US$1.58/kg for other importers, including Angola, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Yemen, Singapore, Italy, Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Chile.

The majority of Argentine poultry imports are managed by the Venezuelan government agency, Corporation of Supplies and Agricultural Services.
