Brazil's price of chicken meat had a slight gain until July this year compared to the same period a year ago.
The nominal price of whole chicken in Greater São Paulo has risen 8.2%. However, in real terms, the increase since last year is only 1.8%.
According to researchers from Comprehensive Economic Partnership for East ASIA (CEPEA), the competing meats - beef and pork - accumulated real increases well above the same period, where figures stood at 4.8% and 16.7%, respectively.
After reaching record highs in the second half of last year, as a result of lower supply, prices of wholesale chicken meat in Greater São Paulo this week returned to a level closer to that observed in mid-2012, before starting the upward trend.
The number of animal on offer is much higher this year, resulting in lower prices.
