Poultry meat exports from Brazil 36.9% up
Poultry meat exports from Brazil increased 36.9% year-on-year in the first half of 2022 to US$4.301 billion, with chicken meat production 4.5% up in 2021, Opportimes reported.
Brazil continued to lead in the export of fresh chicken meat and, according to data from Brazil's foreign trade department SECEX, saw a 7.9% increase in exported volume as well as a 16.1% increase in dollar prices in 2021, given a weakened base in 2020 that was affected by the pandemic.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) predicts a 2.4% increase in poultry exports from Brazil and a 1.7% increase in poultry meat production.
According to the second estimate included in the Bureau of Economic Analysis report, GDP increased by 5.7% in the US in 2021, the primary geographic area in which major Brazilian meatpacker JBS operates.
According to JBS, this growth is the result of increases in all significant factors, with personal consumption spending, non-residential fixed investment, exports, residential fixed investment, and investment in private inventories leading the way.
