DSM appoints new EVP

Royal DSM has announced on July 13 that Cristina Monteiro, currently senior vice president (People & Organization) for DSM Nutritional Products, is to be appointed as executive vice president (People & Organization).

She will succeed Judith Wiese as per September 1, 2020. Wiese has chosen to take up a role outside of DSM and, following a planned handover, will leave as per October 1, 2020. Monteiro will become a member of DSM's executive committee.

Monteiro, an Italian and Swiss national, is an experienced senior executive with broad experience across talent development and HR business partnering who, before DSM, has worked with Philip Morris International and Cargill in many countries.

Monteiro joined DSM in 2015 as senior vice president (Talent Development) before leading the People & Organization function for DSM's Nutrition business group in early 2018 during which time she has focused on enabling customer centricity through organisational design as well as enhancing talent development, diversity and engagement.

Monteiro holds a Master's degree in political science and industrial relations from the LUISS University in Rome.

Geraldine Matchett and Dimitri de Vreeze, co-CEOs of DSM, said: "We are thankful for Judith's contribution to creating an engaged workforce that's committed to DSM's purpose-led, performance driven strategy and creating brighter lives for all. As part of this journey, Judith and her team have laid the foundations for a people analytics agenda, accelerated the digitalisation and simplification of our core people processes while introducing a visionary focus on the future of work at DSM. We wish her well and, at the same time, we very much look forward to continuing this journey with Cristina. With her extensive experience in developing customer-centric organisations and culture, reward, talent development, diversity and engagement programmes, she will add great value to DSM's executive committee."

In her new role, Cristina will report to Matchett.
