Possibility of better Philippine corn production in Q2 2025

The Philippines' corn production could have improved in the second quarter compared to the same period last year based on updated Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) estimates.
Corn production was estimated to hit 1.487 million MT in the second quarter from the 1.17 million MT actual output last year.
Harvest area was projected to rise to 402,730 hectares from 346,880 hectares.
As of June 1, 82.1% or 330,680 hectares of the updated 402,730-hectare harvest area had been harvested, resulting in 1.29 million MT of corn output.
Meanwhile, 335,600 hectares of farmers' 811,020-hectare planting intention for the quarter was actually tilled.
Of the standing crop as of June 1, 53.7% was in the vegetative stage, 29.6% was in the reproductive stage, and 16.6% was in the maturing stage.
