Turkey's HasTavuk® drives expansion with Pas Reform
Hastavuk®, one of Turkey's leading poultry businesses, will extend its layer hatchery operations in Sivrihisar, Eskişehir, with Smart™ technologies from Dutch supplier Pas Reform.
The company's decision to install Smart™ was made, said Hastavuk®'s vice president, Nejat Sezer, after an extensive review of the incubation systems currently available. "For us, uppermost in our minds is to achieve even higher levels of uniformity in our day-old chicks."
The new layer hatchery, fully equipped with SmartSetâ„¢ setters, SmartHatchâ„¢ hatchers and a complete line of ventilation systems, will have a capacity of 390,000 commercial layer chicks per week.
"It is our intention that this hatchery becomes one of the most modern facilities in Turkey, with sophisticated hygiene, disinfection, air-handling and ventilation systems," said Sezer. "Our focus on further improving day old chick uniformity is all about driving optimised farm management, while achieving the lowest possible feed conversion rates."
Smart™ incubation is designed specifically to meet these requirements, said Şake Yalçın, president of Refarm, Pas Reform's representative in Turkey. "By managing the developing chick's environment more acutely, Smart™ actively contributes to the optimisation of post-hatch performance," she said.
Founded in 1972, Hastavuk® is one of Turkey's leading producers of layer- and broiler hatching eggs, day-old chicks, layer pullets and feed. The company also ranks in the top three broiler day-old chick producers for non-integrated farms, transporting all hatching eggs, day-old chicks and pullets directly to customers in custom-equipped trucks for assured performance.
A substantial proportion of layer and broiler hatching eggs and day-old chicks are also exported to former CIS countries and the Middle East. "Hastavuk is an important new customer in a dynamic and growing market", said Henk Markhorst, sales director of Pas Reform Hatchery Technologies. 'We look forward to working with them and with our team at Refarm as they continue to expand their markets in the future."
