Poultry federation established in Malaysia to eliminate middlemen and lower costs
Noh Omar, Malaysia's Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, said a new poultry federation has been established in the country to eliminate middlemen and lower input costs, resulting in reduced chicken prices for consumers, Bernama reported.
Noh Omar said members of the federation include cooperatives, entrepreneurs, and wholesalers in the poultry sector, collaborating to ensure the operations of chicken collection and distribution centres remain smooth in every state.
He said the federation, set up under the Malaysian Cooperative Commission, will purchase chicken, store them at centres, then distribute and sell directly to the public, adding that the chicken sold will be cheaper.
He also said this new initiative will be established with the cooperation of 15 cooperatives and firms.
Noh said his ministry will import frozen chicken to be stored at collection and distribution centres so consumers will have more choices.
