Chinese methionine producers stand firm despite soft demand

Prices of methionine remained mostly stable during the week ending July 9.

Demand for methionine showed little improvement, prompting traders to negotiate prices. However, producers stood firm in anticipation of stronger overseas demand with renminbi depreciating sharply.

Price quotes of imported dl-methionine stable to higher to the range of RMB17.80-18.20/kg.
