Sinochem Group held groundbreaking ceremony for China Seed Life Science & Technology Centre in Wuhan on July 8.

With total investment of RMB5.06 billion (US$782 million), the centre will significantly improve China's competitiveness in seed industry.

The centre is built by China National Seed Group Co Ltd under Sinochem Group. Upon completion, it will be dedicated to application research and industrialisation of crop bio-technology. Plus, an expert team will be formed to integrate latest achievements in crop bio-technology sector both at home and abroad.

China National Seed Group also established strategic cooperation partnership with several scientists in conventional breeding. The current ongoing project covers over 110,000 square metres. Other facilities to be built include a sub-centre in Beijing, a sub-branch in Hainan and four crop functional test stations in major ecological zones.

China National Seed Group is a leading agricultural enterprise engaged in grain, oil plants and vegetable seeds businesses. It is the only stated-owned enterprise taking crop seeds as the main business.
