Ukraine's 2005-06 wheat harvest hits 1.6 million tonnes as of July 11

The Ukrainian government has announced that 1.597 million tonnes of wheat have been harvested as of July 11 in the 2005-06 marketing year.

The wheat has been collected from 643,600 hectares (10 percent of the forecast area) and average yield was recorded at 2.48 tonnes/hectare.

In comparison, as of July 11, 2004, wheat was harvested on 313,200 hectares (5 percent of the forecast area). The volume harvested then was 903,100 tonnes at a yield of 2.88 tonnes/hectare.
