Asia-Pacific Aquaculture 2017

July 24 – 27, 2017

The Asian-Pacific Aquaculture 2017 showcases the latest in aquaculture and the newest technologies in the trade with exhibits from around the world. APA 2017 will have a large exhibition featuring international companies showcasing the latest in products, services and all aquaculture related information, which all should enhance your aquaculture operation.

 

With the theme "Transforming for Market's Needs", APA 2017 will have special sessions on marine shrimp, freshwater fish culture, production systems, tilapia, marine finfish molluscs culture, risk management, aquafeeds and nutrition, development and planning, marketing and trade, among others.

 

The plenary topics will include trends and prospects in Malaysian aquaculture, promoting trade in seafood and fair trade in seafood.

2017 New Zealand Seafood Industry Conference

The Aquaculture Roundtable Series (TARS) 2017

August 16 – 17, 2017

The theme for this seventh edition of Aquaculture Roundtable Series (TARS) 2017 is "Finfish Aquaculture: Strategies for Growth".  This is the second time this roundtables series, initiated in 2011, is focusing on finfish aquaculture. While at TARS 2013 the focus was industrialisation along the value chain, TARS 2017 will look at the growth potential of the industry in Asia and will develop strategic approaches toward market-driven production.

 

To be held in Conrad Bali, TARS 2017 will, in the plenary session, feature 16 state-of-the-industry and science presentations by local and international industry experts. This will be followed by a "Hard Talk with Finfish Farmers", three interactive breakout roundtable sessions with discussion on strategies for growth, and a final panel session.

 

The two-day meeting aims to promote positive image building and improve relationships and communication among the key players in the finfish sector, different markets, governments and NGOs.

24th Annual Short Course on Aquaculture Feed Extrusion, Nutrition and Feed Management

Aqua Nutrition course

August 21 – 25, 2017

Agrischool, Thailand

 

The course provides an excellent overview of current knowledge about aquaculture nutrition, with special emphasis on important commercial species in Asia, including tilapia, carp, pangasius, Asian seabass and white shrimp.

 

The five-day programme includes topics such as:

 

1) Nutrient requirements by species

2) Feed ingredients

3) Feed formulation concepts and feed manufacturing

4) Fish meal replacement

 

Participants also visit an integrated fish farming and fish processing company and fish hatchery.

 

In addition to classroom-style lectures, participants will work together on practical issues related to nutrition, feeds and aquaculture in group exercises.

Aquaculture Laboratory hybrid course at Oregon State University

August 21 – September 8, 2017

Newport, Oregon, USA

 

Aquaculture Laboratory is aimed at students who would like to develop a practical understanding and the basic techniques associated with aquaculture and aquaculture research. The first week of this course is held online and will provide an overview of aquaculture as well as planning for the on-campus portion.

 

The second and third weeks are held at the Hatfield Marine Science Centre in Newport, Oregon. Course topics are centered around west coast species including salmonids, oysters, algae and ornamental species.

 

Course activities will include:

 

1.) Field trips to the Oregon Hatchery Research Centre, Alsea Hatchery and behind the scenes at Oregon Coast Aquarium;

 

2.) Student-led research projects centered on PNW species; and

 

3.) Hands-on activities associated with water-quality testing, system design/component breakdown and live feed cultures.

 

This course is open to non-OSU students and student housing is available at the Hatfield Marine Science Center.

GOAL Conference 2017

This year's GOAL Conference will take place at historic Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland. GOAL stands for Global Outlook for Aquaculture Leadership. The conference theme is "The Next 20: From Promise to Delivery," which addresses the reality of delivering on the seafood community's sustainability commitments over the next 20 years. 

 

The organiser of the conference, the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA), will celebrate during the conference, its 20th anniversary. GAA has a 17-year history of convening the world's seafood thought leaders for its annual GOAL Conference. Through GOAL, GAA strives to fulfill its mission of feeding the world through responsible aquaculture by providing a pre-competitive arena at which leadership development, cooperation and education are encouraged.

4th NordicRAS Workshop

This bi-annual workshop on recirculating aquaculture systems aims at bringing together engineers, scientists, farmers, managers, equipment and systems manufacturers, consultants and other professionals with an interest in emerging RAS-related issues.

Aquaculture Europe 2017 

October 17 – 20, 2017

In addition to the thematic sessions, Aquaculture Europe 2017 also includes parallel and poster sessions.

 

The Aquaculture Europe events are all about communication with the sector. AE2017 will feature a special international trade exhibition, where Croatian and international companies will present their latest products and services.

 

Since 2014, European Aquaculture Society (EAS) has teamed up with the European Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform (EATiP) to organise a special one-day event of panel discussions focusing on relevant and timely issues for the sector. The EAS thematic groups will also organise special sessions and/or workshops within AE2017. The AE event is a focal point for meetings of European associations, satellite workshops of EU projects and other events.

7th International Conference on Aquaculture & Fisheries

More modern aquaculture techniques for marine species include onshore intensive farms, cage systems in the sea (mariculture) and, in the case of shellfish, cultivation on ropes and bags (mussels), or directly on the intertidal substrate (clams). Aquaculture is developed along all Italian coasts, but with higher density along the Adriatic coasts.

9th World Congress on Aquaculture & Fisheries

Statistics from the Ministry of Environment and Water showed that in 2013, the UAE's fish catch stood at 73,203 tonnes, but consumption of seafood reached around 210,000 tonnes, leaving a deficit of 136,797 tonnes. Food consumption, as with other countries, has increased compared to production.

 

The World Aqua Congress 2017 aims to educates consumers about the future prospects of aquaculture and fishing and risk management. Thus, it will bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results.
