Czech 2007 grain harvest seen 6.102 million tonnes, up 5.8 percent on-year

The first estimate for the Czech Republic's total 2007 grain harvest is 6.102 million tonnes, up 5.8 percent from the 2006 harvest of 5.765 million tonnes, the Czech Statistics Office, or CSU, said Wednesday (Jul 11).

This estimate is based on data collected from domestic farmers Jun 20 and most crops are expected to yield larger volumes on-year due to slightly larger sown area, the CSU said.

The estimated wheat grain crop yield is expected to total 4.74 tonnes/hectare in 2007, up from the final wheat crop yield of 4.49 tonnes/hectare in 2006.

Rye harvests this year are seen at 4.04 tonnes/hectare, up from last year's harvest that yielded 3.33 tonnes/hectare.

The estimated rapeseed crop yield is expected to total 2.91 tonnes/hectare in 2007, lower than the final rapeseed crop yield of 3.01 tonnes/hectare in 2006.
