Malaysia offers technical help to Pakistan's seafood industry
Malaysia can provide technical support for Pakistan's seafood industry, said secretary-general Tan Sri Soong Siew Hoong of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) Monday (Jul 10).
Technologies for packaging and frozen food could be provided by Malaysia to help push Pakistan's seafood industry forward, Soong said. after a meeting with a delegation of seafood exporters from Pakistan.
This is the first time that Pakistan has sent a delegation from its seafood industry to Malaysia. The gesture indicated the country's initiative to be exposed to the global market, Soong said.
Soong said he hopes that the meeting would serve as a platform for both countries to have a better understanding of industry needs.
Malaysia is surging ahead with million-dollar investments in aquaculture. Most of the planned investments would serve local demand. However, the country is hoping to tap into the lucrative seafood export market in the near future.
