Philippines welcomes first pork shipment from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in late-June
The first shipment of pork from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, to the Philippines was delivered on June 25.
The product comes from Alibem's meatpacking plants in Santo Ângelo and Santa Rosa, and is Rio Grande do Sul's first export to the Asian country.
The Philippines is an important market for Brazilian pork, said Rogério Kerber, president of the RS Animal Health Defense and Development Fund. According to Kerber, the Philippines should be the second largest buyer in 2024, second only to China.
In December 2023, Rio Grande do Sul was part of the itinerary of a Philippine mission that came to evaluate the Brazilian health protection system, culminating in the achievement of a system accreditation.
