Philippines buys 40,300 tonne feed wheat from China
Philippine feedmillers Friday (Jul 7) bought 40,300 tonnes of feed wheat at USUS$163.90 a tonne, on a cost-and-freight basis, for delivery between September and October, an industry official said Monday (Jul 10).
"It's optional origin, but it will probably come from China," Ric Pinca, vice president of the Philippine Association of Feedmillers Inc, or PAFMI,.
Another official said feed millers may now turn to the local market for raw materials as farmers are about to harvest the main crop for corn.
Harvesting of local corn peaks in July-to-August.
Corn and wheat are the main ingredients for livestock and poultry feed.
