Brazil imposes five-year anti-dumping duties of up to 132.6% on Chinese feed-grade lysine

The final determination, issued by GECEX on 25 June 2026, follows an investigation initiated in December 2024 at the request of domestic producer CJ do Brasil.

Brazil has finalised anti-dumping duties of 26.0% to 132.6% on feed-grade lysine originating from China, with the General Executive Committee for Foreign Trade (GECEX) issuing Resolution No. 923 of 2026 on 25 June, imposing the measures for a period of five years with immediate effect.

The duties apply to lysine for animal feed use under Mercosur tariff codes 2309.90.90, 2922.41.10 and 2922.41.90. Several product categories are excluded from the measures, including lysine clonixinate, lysine acetate, premixes or animal feeds that already contain lysine as a constituent ingredient, and lysine intended for cosmetic, pharmaceutical, human food, scientific research, fertiliser and human dietary supplement applications.

The investigation was initiated on 27 December 2024 by Brazil's Secretariat of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, following a petition filed on 18 July 2024 by CJ do Brasil Indústria e Comércio de Produtos Alimentícios Ltda. An affirmative preliminary determination was issued on 31 December 2025, recommending continuation of the investigation without the imposition of provisional measures.

The final ruling introduces a significant cost barrier for Chinese lysine exports to Brazil, one of the world's largest livestock and poultry markets. Feed-grade lysine is a critical amino acid used in swine and poultry rations, and Chinese producers have historically been among the most competitive global suppliers of the ingredient.
