Norway's seafood exports to Ukraine drop by almost 40%
The political crisis in Ukraine dragged down Norway's seafood exports to the country by nearly 40% this year, according to the Norwegian Seafood Council.
Norway's exports to Ukraine fell to 27,000 tonnes in the first half of the year, a 38% or 16,600-tonne drop from nearly 44,000 tonnes in the same period of last year. In value terms, exports were down by 32% on-year to NOK447 million (US$72.24 million).
According to the Norwegian daily newspaper Aftenposten, about half of Ukraine's seafood imports came from Norway before February this year.
