Orffa opens dedicated Science Lab in Breda to advance gut health and feed efficiency testing

The facility, developed in collaboration with Asahi Biocycle, introduces biomarker-based diagnostics to accelerate insights from nutrition research to on-farm application.
Orffa has opened the Orffa Science Lab at its headquarters in Breda, the Netherlands, a dedicated testing and validation facility developed in collaboration with Asahi Biocycle to strengthen the company's scientific capabilities in animal nutrition.
The laboratory is designed to test and validate nutritional innovations under conditions that reflect practical production environments. Alongside established analytical methods, the facility introduces a novel diagnostic approach based on biomarker technologies using the Florates model, enabling real-time insights into gut health and supporting faster decision-making.
The Science Lab focuses on three key areas: gut health and immunity, mineral nutrition, and feed efficiency. By integrating advanced analytics, microbiome insights and validated testing protocols, the facility is intended to help customers move from data to actionable decisions more rapidly.
"With the Orffa Science Lab, we are enhancing how we support our customers, moving beyond products towards integrated, science-based solutions," said Arno van der Aa, Director Marketing and Innovation at Orffa. "By combining proven analytical expertise with innovative diagnostic technologies, we empower our customers with fast, actionable insights that help improve performance where it matters most - on farm."
The official opening took place on 1 June 2026, bringing together customers, partners and scientific experts to explore the lab's capabilities and future developments in animal nutrition.
