Yakult to set up plant in California

Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd. announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Yakult USA Inc., will construct a plant in Fountain Valley, California and production is slated to begin in 2012.
This will be Yakult's first plant in the US.
Yakult USA. began full-scale sales of "Yakult" in the state of California in 2007. At present, "Yakult" is sold at supermarkets and other retail stores mainly in California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico. Sales averaged 90,000 bottles per day in 2009 (a 41% increase over the previous year) and are steadily growing with 110,000 bottles sold per day in May 2010.
Currently, Yakult USA is selling "Yakult" that is produced in Mexico. With the construction of the new plant in the US, Yakult USA will be prepared to handle an increase in bottle sales in the future.
