Dairy Australia joins Animal Health Australia
Dairy Australia (DA) has become the associate member of Animal Health Australia (AHA) with effect from July 1, 2010.
In the current business environment for Australian agriculture, where cooperative initiatives are more important than ever, the membership formalises a long-standing collaborative relationship between the two organisations.
DA managing director Ian Halliday said the company had been working with AHA for some time on animal health and welfare issues.
"Animal health and welfare are of crucial importance to the success of our dairy industry and it is essential that we continue to work closely with AHA across a range of related national programmes," he said.
AHA chief executive Dr Mike Bond said DA was a significant contributor to the national animal health system through its focus on research and development, and its close interactions with Australian Dairy Farmers, a foundation industry member of the AHA.
"The more industry organisations we can work with, the more robust and relevant our programmes will be," he said. "DA's valuable work in the R&D arena certainly provides a credible basis for both policy formulation and operational projects that aim to strengthen health and welfare facets of the dairy industry."
DA is a national service company that operates on behalf of the Australian dairy industry and whose members are dairy farmers and industry bodies.
DA's role is to help guide dairy farmers and industry through the issues they are facing and provide solutions that help them adapt to an ever-changing operating environment.
AHA works with members and stakeholders to strengthen Australia's national animal health system and maximise confidence in the safety and quality of Australia's livestock products in domestic and overseas markets.
