Thailand's Saha Farms doubles chicken production
Saha Farms will invest Bt10 billion (US$308,212,242) in two new farms and chicken factories in Lop Buri and Phetchabun provinces.
It is one of the major local chicken producer and exporter in Thailand. The investments will boost monthly production capacity by 4,000 tonnes, says company chairman Panya Chotitawan.
"Our ambition is to export 75,000 tonnes of cooked chicken and 25,000 tonnes of fresh chicken meat this year. We want to increase our exports of cooked chicken meat up to 100,000 tonnes next year. We expect to achieve Bt40 billion (US$1.23 million) in total sales this year, of which 50% will come from exports," says Chotitawan.
The company had already reached nearly 50% of its full year target in the first six months of this year, exporting 34,000 tonnes of cooked chicken and another 10,000 tonnes of fresh chicken meat, according to the chairman.
Around 55% of the chicken was exported to Europe, 40% to Japan, and 5% to other markets.
