Bangladeshi district vaccinates cattle and poultry birds
 

 

A total of 2,686,360 cattle and poultry birds in the Bangladeshi district of Gaibandha were vaccinated by the department of livestock in all seven Upazilas in the district during the last fiscal year to save them from various diseases.


Of the total, some 186,960 cattle including cow, goat and sheep were vaccinated to keep those free from foot-mouth-disease (FMD) and Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) while 24,99,400 poultry birds were given vaccination to protect them from Ranikhet, Cholera and fowl pox, sources said.


Besides, some 78,102 cattle and 358,945 poultry birds were also given treatment by the department during the period.


District livestock officer M. Belal Uddin said as many as 18,553 farmers including women out of targeted 15,868 ones were also imparted training on cattle and poultry birds rearing in the district during last fiscal year.
