India June oilmeal exports down 33 percent
India's oilmeal exports fell 33 percent on year in June to 197,593 tonnes due to weak demand and reduced crushing of oilseeds in the domestic market, the Solvent Extractors' Association of India said Friday (July 3).
Â
High international prices also helped trim purchases, the trade body said.
Â
Soymeal exports fell to 109,923 tonnes compared with 241,508 tonnes last June, while rapeseed meal exports rose to 58,805 tonnes from 19,245 tonnes a year ago.
Â
India also exported 16,046 tonnes of castor seed meal, down 32 percent, and 12,580 tonnes of rice bran meal, up 15 percent.
Â
Total oilmeal exports in the April-June period fell 57 percent to 614,528 tonnes, the trade body said.
Â
China imported 93,289 tonnes of oilmeals from India in the three-month period, up 71 percent on year.
Â
Vietnam, South Korea and Japan imported smaller quantities of oilmeals during the period due to declining feedmeal consumption, the trade body said.
