India keeps soy, palm oils base import price unchanged

India left the base import prices of soyoil and palm oils unchanged at current levels Thursday (Jul 5) to keep a check on domestic prices.

There has been no change in the base import prices of edible oils, a finance ministry statement said.

The base import price for crude palm oil is unchanged at US$447/tonne, while that of crude soyoil is unchanged at US$580/tonne.

In India, import tariffs for palm oils and soyoil are calculated from base import prices, regardless of the actual price at which importers buy the commodities.
